CONGRATULATIONS On Sunday 8th October, we celebrated the 14th birthday of our church and were joined by the congregations of both St Edmund's and St Chad's churches. The Vicar, The Revd. Allan Scriviner preached a wonderful sermon on why Peafield's symbol of the Lighthouse was so appropriate even though the church itself is miles from the sea. The rock on which we build is Jesus Christ himself who protects us from the storms of life and the light which we faithfully shine each Sunday brings the gospel of Christ into the dark places of our world. Many thanks to Allan for this reminder. We also owe a debt of gratitude to Bill and Beryl for the magnificent birthday cake which was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone after the service. And to Joan who provided the lovely flowers for the altar. These were taken to Linda who is recovering after her operation.
| The children once again, brought tears to the eye when they presented the "Fruits of Peafield". An insight into all the charities that have been helped by the church thoughout the year. To see them dressed in the costumes of the continents they represented was wonderful, and even more so was the reminder that even this little church can reach out to others in far off places. |
But the biggest thanks of all must be to the congregation of Peafield who provided such a welcome to our visitors and who so willingly set up and cleared up after the service. And all without being asked. They just saw the need and they responded. What a lovely bunch of people you are. May God bless our church in the year ahead and may His Gospel continue to be spread thoughout the Peafield Estate.
God bless all of you. Margaret and Ian.
